"Gerda Malaperis" Rakonto de Claude PIRON

"Gerda disappeared" Story by Claude PIRON

        The first 3 chapters

Ĉapitro 1 (unu) En universitata restoracio

Chapter 1 In a university restaurant.

    Tom: Saluton, Linda.

    Tom: Hello, Linda.

    Linda: Saluton, Tom.

    Linda: Hello, Tom.

Tom: Diru al mi: kiu estas tiu?

Tom: Tell me: who is that?

    Linda: Kiu?

    Linda: Who?

Tom: Tiu alta, blonda, juna viro...

Tom: That tall, blond, young man ...

    Linda: Kiu?

    Linda: Who?

Tom: Tiu, kiu sidas en la angulo.

Tom: That one, who is sitting at the corner.

    Linda: Ho, tiu!

    Linda: Oh, that one!

    Tom: Jes, tiu.

    Tom: Yes, that one.

Linda: Mi ne scias. Mi ne scias, kiu li estas.
    Nova studento, verŝajne.

Linda: I don't know. I don't know, who he is.
Looks like he is a new student.

    Tom: Li estas tute sola.

    Tom: He is all alone.

Linda: Ne. Rigardu. Bela knabino iras al li.

Linda: No. Look. A beautiful girl is going toward him.

    Tom: Ne bela. Juna, eble,
sed ne bela. Nur vi estas bela, Linda.

    Tom: Not beautiful. Young, maybe,
but not beautiful. Only you are beautiful, Linda.

Linda: Tom, kara! Kio okazas al vi?
Eble vi laboras tro multe, kaj...

Linda: Tom, dear! What happens to you?
Maybe you are working too much, and ...

Tom: Nothing special happens to me.
And I am not working too much.
In fact, I am working less now.
The real question is: What is happening to you, Linda?
    Only you are really beautiful.

    Linda: Nu, nu...

    Linda: Well, well ...

Tom: Estas fakto. Nur vi estas bela, Linda.
Mi estas sincera. Venu kun mi!

Tom: It is a fact. Only you are beautiful, Linda.
I am sincere. Come with me!

    Linda: Sed...

    Linda: But ...

Tom: Venu. Al la granda spegulo. Rigardu.

Tom: Come to the big mirror. Look.
Here is Linda, the prettiest girl in the world,
the prettiest girl in the whole world.

Linda: And here is Tom, the most informal
    boy in the whole university.

Malserioza = antonym of serious.
I translated it as "informal".
Maybe there is a better translation.

Ĉapitro 2 (du) Kio okazas?
Chapter 2 What is happening? Linda: Tom! Linda: Tom! Tom: Kio okazas al vi? Vi estas pala! Bela, sed pala. Tom: What is happening to you? You are pale! Pretty, but pale. Linda: Tom! Ne rigardu! Linda: Tom! Don't look! Tom: Kio okazas? Tom: What is happening? Linda: Strange! Okazas io stranga, io tre stranga. Tiu ulo, tiu nova studento... Ne, Ne, mi petas vin, ne rigardu. Estu diskreta. Linda: Strange! Something strange is happening, something very strange. That boy, that new student ... No, No, I am asking you, don't look. Be discreet. Tom: Diable! Diru al mi. Kio estas tiu mistero? Tom: Devils! Tell me. What is that mystery? Linda: Lia mano agas strange. Rigardu, se vi volas, sed plej diskrete. Turnu vin iomete, eble, sed tute nature. Li ne vidu, ke vi rigardas al li. Linda: His hand acts strange. Look, if you want, buy very discretely. Turn a little, maybe, but naturally. He shouldn't see, that you are looking at him. Tom: Vi pravas. Io stranga okazas. Tom: You are right. Something strange is happening. While she isn't looking to him -- now she is looking at the big mirror -- his hand little by little, very very slowly, gets near her cup ... Linda: Estas io en lia mano. Linda: There is something in his hand. Tom: Mi ne vidas. Li estas tro malproksima. Diable! Tiu alta forta knabo nun staras inter ili kaj mi. Mi ne plu vidas. Tom: I don't see. He is to far away. Devils! That tall strong boy now is standing between them and I. I can't see any more. Linda: Sed mi vidas. Mi vidas bone. Mi vidas tre bone. Mi vidas tute bone. Ej! Linda: But I see. I see well. I see very well. I see completely well. Ow! Tom: Kio okazas? Tom: What is happening? Linda: Ŝi rigardas al li nun, kaj lia mano haltas. Linda: She is looking at him now, and his hand stops. Tom: Kaj kio plu? Diru al mi! Tom: And what else? Tell me! Linda: Nun li parolas al ŝi. Li montras al la pordo. Linda: Now he is talking. He is showing her the door. Tom: Eble li volas, ke ŝi rigardu al alia direkto, ke ŝi ne plu rigardu al li. Tom: Maybe he wants, that she look to other direction, that she don't look at him any more. Linda: Prave, tute prave. Jen ŝi rigardas al la pordo. Li plu parolas kaj parolas. Ej! Linda: You are right, completely right. Now she is looking at the door. He talks more and more. When she isn't looking in his direction, his hand gets nearer to the cup. Ow! Tom: Kio? Kio okazas? Tom: What? What is happening? Linda: Lia mano revenas, tute diskrete, kvazaŭ tute nature. Linda: His hand comes back, very discretely, as it was (a) natural (movement). Tom: Ĉu estas io en lia mano? Tom: Is there anything in his hand? Linda: Nenio plu. Linda: Nothing else. But sure now there is something in her cup.
Ĉapitro 3 (tri) Amdeklaro
Chapter 3 Love declaration Bob: Diable! Kio okazas? Vi aspektis kiel spionoj. Ĉu mi povas sidi kun vi? Bob: Devils! What happens? You had the aspect of spies. May I seat with you? Linda: Saluton, Bob. Linda: Hello, Bob. Tom: Bonan tagon, Bob. Tom: Good day, Bob. Bob: Bonan tagon, Linda. Bonan tagon, Tom. Pardonu, ke mi ne salutis vin tuj. Bob: Good day, Linda. Good day, Tom. Pardon me, that I did not greet you immediately. Linda: Ne gravas. Nun vi salutis, kaj mi pardonas vin. Linda: It isn't important. Now you greeted us, and I pardon you. Bob: Ĉu vi permesas, ke mi sidu ĉe via tablo? Bob: Would you allow me to seat at your table? Linda: Kompreneble, vi sidu kun ni. Linda: Of course, have a seat with us. Bob: Mi tamen ne volas esti maldiskreta. Eble Tom parolas pri amo kaj preferas esti sola kun vi. Bob: Nevertheless I do not want to be indiscreet. Maybe Tom speaks about love and prefers to be alone with you. Tom: Mi ne parolis pri amo. Tom: I wasn't speaking about love. Linda: He only said, that I am the prettiest girl in the whole world. Bob: Li pravas. Tio ne estas amdeklaro, tio estas simpla fakto. Bob: He is right. That is not a love declaration, is a simple fact. Tom: Prave. Simpla fakto. Tom: All right. A simple fact. Bob: Nu, certe, Linda estas tre bela, sed ne tio gravas nun. Bob: Well, certainly, Linda is very beautiful, but that isn't important now. Linda: Ne gravas, ĉu? Ne gravas, ke mi estas bela, ĉu? Jen bela deklaro! Linda: Is not important, isn't? Is not important that I am beautiful, isn't? Beautiful declaration. Bob: Pardonu min. Mi volas diri, ke io estas pli grava. Bob: Pardon me. I mean, that something is more important. Tom: Kio? Pri kio vi parolas? Kio estas pli grava? Tom: What? What are you speaking about? What is more important? Bob: You didn't see me, when I was getting closer to you, but I did look at you. Linda: I don't understand, what are you speaking about. Bob: Mi parolas pri via vizaĝo. Bob: I am speaking about your face. Linda: Kio pri mia vizaĝo? Ĉu ĝi ne estas bela? Linda: What is wrong with my face. Isn't it beautiful? Bob: Oh yes, it is beautiful, it is the most beautiful in the world. But it was mysterious! Linda: Mistera? Ĉu mia vizaĝo estis mistera? Linda: Mysterious? Was my face mysterious? Bob: Jes. Via vizaĝo estis mistera. Fakte, viaj vizaĝoj estis misteraj. Mistera vizaĝo de spionino ĉe mistera vizaĝo de spiono. Vi aspektis strange. Vi aspektis mistere. Mi bone rigardis vin, dum mi proksimiĝis al vi, kaj estis mistera esprimo sur via vizaĝo, Linda, kaj ankaŭ sur via, Tom. Kiel mi jam diris, vi aspektis kiel spionoj. Bob: Yes. Your face was mysterious. In fact, both your faces were mysterious. A mysterious face of a spy woman next to a mysterious face of a spy man. You had a strange aspect. You had a mysterious aspect. I watched you very well when I was getting closer to you, and that mysterious expression was on your face, Linda, and also on yours, Tom. As I already said, you had the aspect of spies.
